What happened
The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft departed Eglin AFB. While in the climb phase of flight, the airplane experienced a stall. The aircraft subsequently impacted the ground approximately 300 metres beyond the end of the runway. Upon impact, the airframe burst into flames. The accident resulted in the deaths of nine crew members and left two others injured.
The personnel on board included a pilot instructor, a student pilot, a copilot, two navigators, a flight engineer, and four scanners. Among those killed were the pilot instructor, the student pilot, the copilot, both navigators, the flight engineer, and three of the four scanners. The remaining two crew members survived with injuries.
