What happened
During a flight over the Sunchon region, the aircraft sustained damage from anti-aircraft fire. Following the strike, the pilot managed to navigate the plane out of the active combat zone, moving toward a position west of the capital city. However, the damage sustained during the engagement rendered the aircraft untenable for continued flight, necessitating an emergency bailout by the entire crew.
After all personnel had exited the aircraft, the plane continued on its trajectory and crashed approximately 17 km west of Pyongyang-Sunan Airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. Among the crew members involved in the incident, one fatality was recorded, while the remaining 10 survivors successfully evacuated before the crash.
Findings
The investigation concluded that the primary factor leading to the loss of the aircraft was the impact of enemy ground fire during the flight over Sunchon.
