What happened
The aircraft, identified as B-50 with registration 46-010, was on a return leg to its base at Clark Air Force Base. The plane had recently completed a refueling mission supporting the world tour of the B-50 christened Lucky Lady II. During the return journey, the crew encountered deteriorating weather conditions. These adverse conditions led to a loss of control over the aircraft. The crash occurred approximately 58 miles from Clark Air Force Base. The impact destroyed the airframe completely.
Findings
The incident resulted in nine fatalities, as all members of the crew perished in the accident. The primary contributing factor cited was the encounter with poor weather conditions which precipitated the loss of control.
