What happened
During the course of the flight, the aircraft experienced a loss of power due to an engine failure. In response to the mechanical malfunction, the pilot was forced to descend to a lower altitude to manage the emergency. The flight crew attempted to perform an emergency landing in an open field situated in the vicinity of Barrance de Upía.
Upon impact with the ground, the aircraft crash landed in the field. Although the pilot managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries, the situation escalated shortly after the landing. The aircraft subsequently underwent an explosion, which resulted in the total destruction of the plane. It was noted that the cargo being transported at the time of the incident consisted of explosives.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the emergency was an engine failure occurring during the flight phase.
- The presence of explosive materials in the cargo contributed to the post-crash destruction of the airframe.
