Aircraft Collision with Terrain Near Takami Peak (JA5322)

Incident Overview and Flight Conditions An aircraft was operating under visual flight rules (VFR) at a relatively low altitude when it encountered instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) characterized by snowfall. During this phase of flight, the crew identified a mountain ahead. ## Collision and Aftermath In an attempt to avoid a collision with the terrain, the pilot increased engine power. Despite this action, the aircraft struck trees and crashed in a wooded area located on Takami Peak, near Kawatana. ## Casualties and Damage Both pilots aboard the aircraft sustained injuries. The aircraft was destroyed in the crash.
