Incident Overview
An aircraft departed from Banjarmasin-Syamsudin Noor Airport on a domestic flight. Shortly after takeoff, while climbing, the crew notified air traffic control of an engine fire and received clearance to return for an emergency landing.
Accident Sequence
On final approach, the aircraft became unstable, rolling left and right before losing height. It crashed into a factory located approximately 2 kilometers short of the runway.
Casualties
A passenger sustained serious injuries. Sixteen other occupants of the aircraft and two individuals in the factory were killed.
Probable Cause
Engine failure/fire for unknown reasons.
