What happened
During a climb phase following departure from Banjarmasin-Syamsudin Noor Airport, the flight crew notified air traffic control of an active engine fire. In response to the emergency, the aircraft was authorized to perform an emergency landing at the departure airport.
While performing the final approach, the aircraft experienced significant instability, characterized by lateral rolling motions. The aircraft subsequently lost altitude and struck a factory building situated approximately 2 km from the runway threshold. The impact resulted in 18 fatalities among the aircraft occupants and two deaths among individuals located within the factory. One passenger sustained serious injuries during the event.
