Incident
On a training mission near Murcia-Alcantarilla, Spain, two Casa 352 aircraft were flying in a formation of nine when they collided under unclear circumstances. Both aircraft subsequently lost control and dove into the ground.
Aircraft and Occupants
The first aircraft, registered T.2B-229, carried nine paratroopers and two pilots. The second aircraft, registered T.2B-230, also carried nine paratroopers and two pilots.
Casualties
During the descent of T.2B-229, eight skydivers were able to bail out before the airplane crashed in a field. The remaining three occupants of T.2B-229, as well as all 11 occupants on board T.2B-230, were killed.
