On a flight transporting personnel from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Emergency Response Team, a Cessna 208 Caravan operating under registration C-GMPB was traveling from Teslin, Yukon, toward a location on the southern portion of Teslin Lake, British Columbia. The mission involved delivering equipment, two dogs, and three team members to a gravel bar situated across from the Jennings River mouth.

Following the unloading of the passengers and gear, the aircraft prepared for a return trip to the Teslin airport. At approximately 23:55, the aircraft departed with the pilot and one RCMP engineer on board. During the initial climb phase, the aircraft exhibited a sudden upward pitch, leading to an aerodynamic stall. This was followed by a rapid descent into the water. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and two fatalities.
