What happened

An incident occurred at Placencia Airport involving the theft of a single engine airplane while it was parked on the airfield. Two individuals reportedly took control of the aircraft with the apparent intent of performing illegal acts. Following a takeoff from runway 06 under nighttime conditions, the aircraft departed the runway environment and struck an electrical transformer. The impact caused the plane to crash into a wooded area situated approximately 900 metres beyond the end of the runway. Upon impact, the aircraft ignited, resulting in a fire that completely destroyed the airframe.
