What happened

Shortly after departing from Ukunda-Diani Airfield, a single-engine airplane entered an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft crashed in the Kwale region, located approximately 17 km northwest of the takeoff site. The impact and a subsequent fire caused the total destruction of the aircraft.

There were 11 fatalities in the accident, representing all individuals on board. The passengers included 10 tourists, specifically eight individuals from Hungary and two from Germany, who were traveling toward Masai Mara National Park.
