A single-engine aircraft was conducting a short-distance flight originating from Tolemaida AFB with a destination of Guaymaral Airport in Bogotá. As the flight crew attempted to approach the airport from the western side, the aircraft encountered weather conditions that provided only marginal visibility. During this approach phase, the plane struck trees and crashed onto the terrain of Cerro Manjui, located approximately 5 km west of the destination airport.

The impact resulted in the total destruction of the single-engine aircraft. There were no survivors of the accident, as all 8 fatalities were recorded, which included three civilians and five other occupants.
