What happened
During the final approach phase toward Jackson Airport, the aircraft suffered a simultaneous failure of both engines. In response to the loss of power, the pilot attempted an emergency forced landing. During this maneuver, the plane impacted several trees before coming to a rest at the crash site.
The pilot was the only person on board the aircraft at the time of the accident. Following the impact, the pilot sustained serious injuries.
Findings
Investigations into the accident identified that the primary reason for the dual engine failure was fuel exhaustion. Several contributing elements were noted in the official report, including:
- Ineffective management of fuel levels during flight
- Insufficient preparation prior to the flight
- Errors in decision-making while airborne
- The presence of high obstructions in the flight path
