What happened
Shortly after departing from runway 13 at Buenos As Aires-Aeroparque-Jorge Newbury Airport, the aircraft type experienced a mechanical issue involving an engine failure. During the initial climb phase, the crew notified air traffic control of an emergency and received permission to perform a return to the airport.
While the crew was executing a 180-degree turn to approach runway 31, the aircraft became uncontrollable. The flight ended in a crash into the sea, occurring approximately 2,700 meters from the threshold of runway 31. The accident took place roughly three minutes after the plane had left the ground.
Findings
There were six fatalities and one survivor among the occupants of the plane, all of whom were employees of the operator, LAER. The sequence of events indicates that the loss of control during a turn was the primary factor leading to the impact.
