What happened
A twin-engine aircraft was conducting a flight from Abbotsford toward Tofino when the accident occurred. While the crew was performing an approach to Tofino Airport on Vancouver Island, the aircraft struck the ground on Vargas Island, located just off the coast of Tofino.
Search efforts located the burnt wreckage of the plane the day after the impact. There were two fatalities recorded in the incident, involving both individuals on board the aircraft.
