An aircraft crashed into the sea near Caracas-Maiquetía-Simón Bolívar Airport shortly after takeoff, resulting in no survivors.

What happened

Shortly after departing from Caracas-Maiquetía-Simón Bolívar Airport, the aircraft began an uncontrolled descent while attempting to climb to 7,000 feet. The plane went down in the ocean near the Caracas coastline. Following the accident, wreckage was spotted drifting in the water the next afternoon, roughly 11 km north of the airport at coordinates 10° 42' 14" N 66° 59' 00" W. On June 5, additional pieces of the wreckage were retrieved at 10° 37' 00" N 66° 59' 15" W.

Findings

Investigation of the wreckage confirmed that the aircraft was completely destroyed upon impact. There were five fatalities among the occupants of the plane, with no survivors reported from the flight.
