Incident Overview
On a training flight from Toronto-Lester Bowles Pearson Airport to Muskoka Airport, the crew departed at 1107 LT. While cruising at 9,500 feet, air traffic control cleared the crew to perform a low pass over Orillia Airport. During the pass, the aircraft descended to an altitude of approximately 150–200 feet at a speed of 200 knots.
Sequence of Events
After completing the low pass, the crew initiated a climb. At an altitude of 1,000 feet, the aircraft banked sharply to the right, then became inverted and entered a near-vertical descent. The aircraft subsequently crashed and was destroyed. Both pilots were killed.
