What happened
On the date of the incident, a private aircraft operated by Kelly Panteluk Construction was conducting a flight from Fort Lauderdale-Executive to Stella Maris-Estate Airport in the Bahamas. During the final approach phase, the aircraft performed a belly landing on the runway. The impact of the landing resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair.
While the landing was severe, there were zero fatalities and zero injuries reported among the occupants. The aircraft involved in the accident was a private vessel owned by a Canadian construction firm.
Findings
Preliminary information suggests that the landing gear remained in the retracted position throughout the landing sequence. It appears that the crew's execution of the approach checklist was interrupted by an unidentified factor, which led to the failure to extend the landing gear prior to touchdown.
