What happened
Following the touchdown on Runway 19 at Mayfield-Graves County Airport, the aircraft failed to decelerate sufficiently before the end of the 1,525-metre runway. The momentum of the plane caused it to overshoot the runway threshold, continuing across the airfield perimeter.
During the excursion, the aircraft traveled through a roadway and proceeded an additional 216 metres beyond the runway's terminus. The sequence of events concluded when the plane struck a residential house. While the aircraft sustained serious damage, there were no injuries reported among the occupants of the home, and the pilot exited the wreckage without harm.
Findings
- The aircraft was unable to come to a halt within the available runway length.
- The path of the aircraft involved crossing a road and impacting a structure located past the runway end.
