What happened
A private flight departing from Marseille-Provence Airport was en route to Annecy when the flight crew received updates regarding the meteorological conditions at the destination. The report indicated that the runway at Annecy was wet, which was expected to result in a medium braking coefficient.
Upon receiving clearance to land on runway 04, the pilot proceeded with the approach. The twin engine airplane touched down approximately halfway down the runway while maintaining a speed of 119 knots. Following the landing, the pilot attempted to execute braking maneuvers; however, the aircraft experienced aquaplaning on the damp surface. Due to the loss of braking effectiveness, the aircraft could not stop before the end of the runway. The plane overran the threshold, struck an embankment, and breached a fence before eventually coming to a halt on a nearby road.
Findings
The accident resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. Regarding the occupants, the 70-year-old pilot sustained serious injuries, while two passengers, aged 26 and 28, suffered minor injuries.
