What happened
The incident occurred after the completion of a maritime patrol mission. The floatplane attempted to land in waters off Seyðisfjörður under challenging environmental conditions. At the time, the weather was marginal, characterized by strong winds, significant turbulence, and rough sea states.
During the approach and touchdown, the aircraft experienced a hard landing. This impact resulted in a puncture to the bulkhead of the airframe. Although the structural damage rendered the airplane beyond repair, all 11 occupants survived the event without sustaining any injuries. The crew consisted of two pilots and five other personnel, while four passengers were also on board.
