What happened
The incident involved a seaplane operating in the waters near Geraldton. During the approach and landing phase, the aircraft made a hard impact with the water surface. Following this initial contact, the seaplane took on water. Subsequent efforts to move the vessel toward the shore resulted in it striking rocks. This secondary collision caused structural damage that rendered the airframe beyond repair.
At the time of the event, the aircraft was operating at a high weight, estimated at approximately 30,000 pounds. Despite the severity of the landing and the subsequent collision with the rocks, all seven crew members on board were reported to be unhurt.
