Accident Sequence
After departing from Villavicencio-La Vanguardia Airport, the aircraft experienced an overspeed condition in the right engine during the climb phase. The crew received clearance to return to the airport. As the approach progressed, the crew determined that they would be unable to reach the runway and opted to attempt an emergency landing.
The aircraft came down in a field, where it touched down in a crash landing. It slid for several dozen meters before coming to rest in a ditch. Upon stopping, the aircraft erupted in flames.
Casualties and Damage
One passenger sustained fatal injuries, while other occupants suffered injuries of varying severity. The aircraft was substantially damaged by the impact and subsequent fire.
Investigation
Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the factors leading to the engine overspeed and the circumstances of the emergency landing.
