What happened
While traveling toward Balmaceda-Teniente Vidal Airport, the flight crew received notification regarding deteriorating weather conditions at their intended destination. In response to these reports, the decision was made to divert the flight to Chile Chico Airport.
During the approach to Chile Chico, the aircraft encountered significantly reduced visibility. Due to the challenging environmental conditions, the pilot in command initiated an emergency landing attempt within an open field. The aircraft subsequently crash-landed in the vicinity of Los Antiguos, located east of Chile Chico.
Despite the impact, all 11 occupants were successfully rescued from the wreckage. While there were no reported fatalities, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
