What happened
During an approach to Puerto Aysén Airport, the aircraft experienced a sudden change in flight path. The plane performed a left bank before transitioning into a steep dive. The impact occurred several kilometers away from the airfield.
The crash resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. There were three fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the flight became uncontrollable due to a mechanical failure. Specifically, the left elevator detached while the plane was in flight, leading to the loss of control.
