What happened
During a scheduled liaison mission traveling from Korea to Tachikawa Air Force Base, an aircraft struck the side of Mount Fuji. The flight was cruising at an altitude of approximately 8,000 feet when the collision occurred. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing marginal weather conditions.
The impact with the mountain slope resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were three fatalities among the crew members on board, including the pilot, the co-pilot, and the radio operator.
