What happened
During a flight departing from Villavicencio-La Vanguardia Airport, the aircraft experienced a mechanical issue shortly after liftoff. While in the climbing phase of flight, the pilot reported an emergency due to the failure of one engine. Following this declaration, air traffic control authorized the crew to perform a return to the departure airfield.
The aircraft proceeded to fly a circuit pattern to prepare for landing. However, during the final approach, the plane entered a stall and impacted the ground several hundred meters before reaching the runway threshold. The accident resulted in 19 fatalities, including both pilots, and left 8 passengers with serious injuries.

Official investigations into the crash identified that the primary factor was an engine failure of undetermined origin during the initial climb.
