What happened
During an approach to Orūmīyeh Airport, the flight crew notified air traffic control regarding difficulties with the aircraft's landing gear. Although the gear appeared to be deployed, the cockpit instrumentation failed to display the three green lights indicating a secure lock. Following instructions from air traffic controllers, the crew performed a low-altitude pass in front of the control tower and began a circuit pattern.
During this maneuver, both engines experienced a flameout. This loss of power caused the aircraft to become uncontrollable, leading to a crash in a field situated approximately 12 km from the airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and 11 fatalities among the occupants.
Findings
- The crew reported technical issues involving the landing gear indication system prior to the accident.
- Both engines flamed out while the aircraft was performing a circuit pattern following a low pass.
