What happened
A charter flight departed from Ankara-Esenboğa at 20:17 local time, destined for Tripoli. While maintaining a cruising altitude of 32,000 feet, the crew issued a PAN PAN message at 20:31 local time to report an electrical system malfunction. Following instructions from air traffic control, the aircraft began a left-hand turn to return to Ankara.
Two minutes after the initial warning, the crew declared an emergency. During this period, communication between the air traffic controller and the aircraft became increasingly unstable. Shortly thereafter, the three-engine airplane entered an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft crashed in an open field situated near the village of Kesikkavak, west of Haymana. The impact resulted in the destruction of the aircraft type and caused eight fatalities, with no survivors reported.
Findings
The accident occurred following a reported malfunction of the electric system during the cruise phase of flight.
