What happened
The incident occurred while the crew was conducting a training flight departing from Woodford Airport. During the en route phase of the operation, the aircraft experienced a total loss of power due to an engine malfunction. This critical failure forced the pilot to initiate an emergency landing procedure in an attempt to save the aircraft and occupants.
As the crew attempted to bring the plane down, it collided with an iron fence situated near the intended landing area. The impact resulted in significant structural damage to the airframe, rendering it damaged beyond repair. Both individuals on board sustained injuries during the crash sequence.
Findings
The official investigation identified the primary factor leading to the accident as a mechanical issue. Specifically, the loss of thrust was attributed to an engine failure, which left the crew with no choice but to execute an emergency landing that ultimately resulted in the collision.
