What happened
During National Aviation Day events at Limerick, an aircraft was conducting a demonstration flight in the immediate vicinity of the airfield. While maneuvering near the airport, it collided mid-air with a De Havilland DH.83 Fox Moth registered G-ABWF. The Fox Moth sustained damage to its undercarriage during the impact but remained controllable; its pilot managed to land safely and the aircraft was subsequently repaired.
The Gipsy Moth, however, lost control immediately following the collision. It crashed in the area near the airfield. Both individuals on board the Gipsy Moth were killed in the accident.
