What happened
The incident occurred while the crew was conducting a local pleasure flight. The aircraft had departed from Tollerton Airfield earlier that day. While executing aerobatic maneuvers, the crew lost control of the machine. The aircraft subsequently dove into the ground and crashed in an open field situated in Chilwell, southwest of Nottingham.
Both individuals on board were killed in the accident. The fatalities included two pilots.
Findings
Official investigations determined that the loss of control was not due to pilot error alone but resulted from a structural failure. Specifically, one wing failed while the aircraft was performing aerobatics, leading directly to the crash.
