What happened
During a routine training flight, a single-engine aircraft experienced a mid-air collision with another De Havilland DH.60X Moth. The second aircraft, registered as G-CALE, was operated by the Halifax Aero Club and carried two pilots at the time of the incident. Following the impact, both planes lost control and descended into the waters of the Halifax harbor. Both airframes were subsequently lost in the water.
Despite the severity of the crash, all three individuals on board the aircrafts were recovered from the harbor. The three pilots involved in the accident were rescued and survived the incident.
