What happened
The incident occurred while the single engine aircraft was executing its final approach into Sydney. During this critical phase of flight, the airframe entered an aerodynamic stall. The loss of lift caused the aircraft to descend rapidly and impact the ground, leading to a crash.
Following the impact, emergency services responded to the scene. Both individuals on board sustained injuries but survived the accident. Upon inspection, it was determined that the structural damage to the airframe was extensive, rendering it beyond economic repair.
Findings
The primary mechanical event identified was an in-flight stall during the approach phase. This loss of controlled flight directly resulted in the ground impact and subsequent destruction of the aircraft.
