What happened

On a mission involving the aerial distribution of fish fry across various lakes near Clearwater, British Columbia, a de Havilland DHC-2T Beaver was performing scheduled drops. After completing tasks at four separate lakes, the aircraft began its approach toward the northwestern portion of Broken Hook Lake at approximately 1320 PDT.

During this final approach, the pilot attempted to increase power; however, the engine failed to respond to the lever advancement. At an altitude of roughly 100 feet, the aircraft collided with several treetops. The impact caused the plane to descend rapidly into the terrain and crash into the forest. The aircraft was completely destroyed in the impact, though no fire was reported.
