What happened
On a charter flight departing from Tasu, British Columbia, a turbine-engine DHC-3 Otter equipped with floats was traveling under visual flight rules toward Alliford Bay. The flight, which began at approximately 19:40 PDT, was carrying the pilot and two passengers. The intended destination was located roughly 26 nautical miles north of the departure point.
After the aircraft failed to reach Alliford Bay as scheduled, the operating company launched a search operation. During the search, the wreckage was discovered the next day. The debris field was situated in difficult, mountainous terrain at an altitude of 1,700 feet above sea level, approximately 18 nautical miles south of the intended destination. The impact destroyed the aircraft, and there were no survivors among the three people on board.
