Incident Overview
On March 6, 2019, at 14:48 local time (18:48 UTC), a Cessna 210L with registration CP-2744 experienced a serious incident during the landing phase at "Selin Zeitun López" Airport in Riberalta, Bolivia. The aircraft, operated by Aerotaxi "Ariel" and owned by Maria René Hayashida Capobianco, was on a visual flight rules (VFR) trip from Cobija with six people on board.
Sequence of Events
The pilot filed flight plan 017029 for the route SLCO/SLRI. After departing Cobija at 13:41, the aircraft entered the control zone at Riberalta at 14:39 and was cleared for a traffic pattern on Runway 32. At 14:48, while approximately 500 meters from the runway threshold, the front landing gear collapsed as the pilot attempted to exit the runway onto an auxiliary taxiway. This caused the propeller to strike the asphalt surface.
Damage and Injuries
The impact resulted in bent struts on the front landing gear and deformation of all three propeller blades up to 45 degrees at the tips. The engine was shut down immediately after the stop. Fire service personnel assisted the occupants in evacuating the aircraft. Medical evaluations confirmed that neither the pilot nor the five passengers sustained any injuries.
