What happened

While performing an approach to the Biên Hòa airfield at an altitude of approximately 3,500 feet, a Spooky aircraft collided with a US Air Force North American OV-10A Bronco, registration 67-14627. The impact caused the Bronco to enter a steep dive, ultimately crashing into the ground. This accident resulted in two fatalities among the crew of the Bronco.

The Spooky aircraft remained airborne following the collision and was able to proceed with its landing sequence. However, upon reaching the runway, the plane's undercarriage failed and collapsed. The aircraft subsequently slid across the terrain for several dozen yards before coming to a complete stop. The three crew members aboard the Spooky sustained slight injuries during the landing incident.
