What happened
During a nighttime cargo operation traveling from Willemstad-Hato Airport to Miami International Airport, a four-engine aircraft entered an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft went down in the Caribbean Sea, approximately 210 km northwest of Curaçao Island. Following the accident, search efforts located small amounts of debris floating on the ocean surface and the body of the copilot, confirming one fatality.
Findings
At the time of the accident, the flight was operating under difficult meteorological conditions. The aircraft was encountering thunderstorm activity and significant turbulence while cruising through the region.
