What happened
On the morning of the accident, an aircraft departed from Tumaco-La Florida Airport at 08:25 local time, with a scheduled arrival in Cali at 09:55. During the transit, the flight encountered adverse weather characterized by rainfall and significantly reduced visibility.
While maintaining an altitude of approximately 9,670 feet, the aircraft type (unspecified) departed from its intended flight path and collided with the slope of Mt Trujillo. The impact occurred in the Buenaventura area, situated roughly 75 km northwest of Cali Airport.
Following the disappearance, search and rescue efforts were conducted for several days; however, operations were eventually halted as no evidence of the plane or its passengers was located. It was not until October 31, 1974, that the wreckage was discovered within a ravine. The accident resulted in 27 fatalities, with no survivors reported among the occupants.
