Incident Details
The aircraft departed Barranquilla-Ernesto Cortissoz Airport at 1930 local time on a cargo flight destined for Bogotá. Approximately two hours into the flight, while cruising in poor weather conditions, the airplane went out of control, entered a dive, and crashed in a wooded area near Puerto Berrío. The wreckage was located a few hours later.
Crew
All three crew members were killed in the accident. They were identified as pilot Jaime Feged, copilot Arnovis Guarín, and mechanic Rafael Melo.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined the probable cause to be loss of control while cruising in severe turbulences after one wing detached following rivets failure.
