What happened
During a recent flight departing from Florencia-Gustavo Artunduaga Paredes Airport, an aircraft experienced a critical mechanical failure during its ascent. While the aircraft was in the initial climb phase, the left engine ceased functioning properly. This loss of power prevented the aircraft from maintaining its necessary altitude, causing it to descend rapidly.
As the aircraft lost height, it struck the ground in the vicinity of the runway end. The impact resulted in a fatal accident, with a total of 2 fatalities involving the flight crew. There were no survivors reported from the wreckage.
Findings
- The primary factor in the loss of altitude was the failure of the left engine during the climb phase.
- The accident occurred in close proximity to the departure runway at the airport.
