What happened
During a scheduled cargo operation originating in Harare and destined for Zaïre, an aircraft was intercepted while flying over the Tete Province. While traversing the airspace of western Mozambique, the plane was targeted and shot down by members of the Mozambican military forces.
The impact of the attack resulted in a crash within the province. There were no survivors from the incident, as all three crew members perished in the accident.
Findings
Official investigations concluded that the destruction of the aircraft was a direct result of being shot down by Mozambican Army Forces during its flight over the western region of Mozambique.
