Incident Overview

On a scheduled flight from Miami-Intl Airport, shortly after takeoff, the aircraft experienced a failure of its left engine while climbing through approximately 100 feet. The pilot responded by discontinuing the climb and attempting to return for a landing on the remaining wet runway. During the maneuver, the airplane banked to the left, causing the left wing to drop and strike the runway surface. The impact tore off the left main landing gear. The aircraft subsequently went out of control, crash-landed, and came to rest on the airport premises.
