What happened

On September 30, 2021, at 13:13 UTC, an Airbus A320-214, registered SU-BPV, was operating a commercial flight from Hurghada Airport to Düsseldorf International Airport. The aircraft, operated by Air Cairo, was carrying 127 passengers and two of the four crew members on board.

While cruising at flight level 360 and approximately 89 nautical miles from the PETOV waypoint, the flight crew received an Engine No. 1 stall message via the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitor (ECAM). Following the engine malfunction, the flight crew declared an emergency to Zagreb air traffic control at 13:24 UTC. The aircraft subsequently performed a safe landing.
