Air Cairo A320 Incident: Engine Stall Warning En Route to Düsseldorf (SU-BPV)

Incident Overview and Flight Details On September 30, 2021, an Airbus A320-214 aircraft with registration SU-BPV, operated by Air Cairo, was en route from Hurghada Airport (HEGN) to Düsseldorf International Airport (EDDL) as flight MSC 2980. The aircraft carried two of four crew members and 127 passengers. ## Event Description While cruising at flight level 360, approximately 89 nautical miles from the PETOV waypoint, the flight crew received an Engine No. 1 stall message on the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitor (ECAM) system. At 13:24 UTC, the crew declared an emergency to Zagreb air traffic control, citing an Engine No. 1 failure. The aircraft subsequently landed safely. ## Investigation Status The Egyptian Aircraft Accident Investigation Directorate issued an interim statement in September 2025 under ICAO Annex-13 requirements. Investigators completed readouts of all available data from the flight data recorder. The final report is pending the receipt of the Engine Shop Visit Report. No recommendations have been issued to date.
