Flight History
On June 25, 2022, at 05:03 UTC, EgyptAir flight MSR698, a Boeing 737-866 aircraft registered SU-GCZ, departed from Dammam Airport (OEDF) en route to Cairo Airport (HECA). The aircraft carried 127 passengers and a crew of 7. All indications during approach and landing on runway 23C were normal. Before touchdown, the aircraft’s roll angle was approximately 3 degrees with the right wing lower, causing the right main landing gear to contact the runway first. This resulted in a small bounce landing. After vacating the runway and stopping, the Pilot In Command (PIC) was notified by other traffic about damage to the left main landing gear tires and assembly, scattered parts causing minor damage, and other traces on the left wing flaps and fairing.
Investigation Activities
Investigators from the Egyptian Aircraft Accident Investigation Directorate conducted the following activities: photographic documentation, technical inspection and data collection, interviews with both flight crew members, and readouts of all available data from onboard recorders. No safety recommendations have been issued at this stage. The next step is completion of the final report.
Damage
The aircraft sustained minor damage, including damage to the left main landing gear tires and assembly, scattered parts, and traces on the left wing flaps and fairing. There were no reported fatalities or injuries.
