What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from Maputo Airport, an aircraft experienced a sudden loss of altitude. The descent continued until the plane impacted a series of residential structures within the 25th June district, which is situated in close proximity to the airfield. The impact occurred during a period of favorable meteorological conditions.
All 18 occupants on board the aircraft were successfully pulled from the wreckage. The passengers were identified as students returning to their homes. While the aircraft was completely destroyed during the collision, the damage was not limited to the plane itself. A woman residing in one of the impacted houses was killed as a result of the crash.
