What happened
During a return flight from a supply mission, an aircraft was performing its final approach to Đà Nẵng Airport under nighttime conditions. As the crew progressed toward the runway, they encountered severe weather characterized by high winds and heavy rainfall. During this phase of flight, one of the engines experienced a failure.
Following the loss of engine power, the aircraft type stalled and descended into a minefield situated approximately 1.6 km before the runway threshold. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the plane. While there were no fatalities, all seven crew members sustained injuries, with several individuals suffering from serious wounds.
Findings
Investigations determined that the primary factor in the accident was an engine failure occurring during the final approach amidst adverse meteorological conditions.
