What happened
During a scheduled transport mission from Đà Nẵng to Dông Hà, a crew was tasked with delivering a shipment of defoliant. During the course of the flight, the captain inadvertently landed the aircraft at Hipp Khanh aerodrome.
Upon realizing the destination error, the pilot attempted to depart from the airfield. However, because the runway length was insufficient for the required maneuver, the aircraft was unable to complete the takeoff. This resulted in a crash landing into nearby trees.
There were no injuries reported among the three crew members involved in the incident. While all personnel survived, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was an error made by the flight crew during the navigation or landing phase.
