What happened
During a flight returning to Tánh Linh Airbase following a flare-dropping mission, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure. As the crew was attempting to land, one of the engines ceased functioning properly. This loss of power caused the aircraft to become uncontrollable during the final approach.
The resulting crash led to the destruction of the airframe, which was determined to be beyond repair. While the incident resulted in five injuries among the crew members, no fatalities were reported from the event.

Investigations into the accident concluded that the primary factor in the loss of control was an engine failure occurring during the landing sequence.
