What happened
During a mission involving the deployment of flares, an aircraft was operating at a low altitude when it was struck by hostile fire. The flight was transporting a total of eight people, consisting of four crew members and four observers from Vietnam. Following the impact from enemy weapons, the plane crashed in an area located approximately 104 km south of Saigon.
All eight individuals on board, including the pilot and the accompanying crew, perished in the accident. There were no survivors recovered from the crash site.
Findings
Investigations into the incident concluded that the primary reason for the destruction of the aircraft was that it was shot down by enemy fire while performing its low-level mission.
